Wanneer is mijn horloge waterdicht?
Alles wat je wil weten over waterdichte horloges
Het perfecte horloge voor jezelf kiezen is soms niet gemakkelijk.
Je moet je steeds afvragen:
- Wat past er bij mijn persoonlijke stijl?
- Wat ben ik er precies mee van plan en waarvoor zal ik het gebruiken?
In het huidige tijdperk is er ongelooflijk veel keuze aan verschillende horloges aangepast voor elke hobby en aan elke individu zijn noden.
Tot in hoeverre de gekozen horloge tegen water kan is toch wel een belangrijke peiler.
In dit artikel geven we een bondige uitleg over de waterbestendigheid van de horloges. Inderdaad u leest het goed. We gaan het hebben over hoe goed de horloge waterbestendig is, “waterdicht” zou hier een verkeerde woordkeuze zijn omdat geen enkel horloge 100% gegarandeerd “waterdicht” kan zijn, maar het horloge is wel “waterbestendig”. Dat allemaal hangt af van het type horloge.
Komt u mee? Dan leggen we het u stap voor stap uit
Bijna op elk horloge staat “waterresistant”, meestal op de wijzerplaat of op het deksel. De praktijk en de vele conversaties met klanten hebben me geleerd dat over dat kleine woordje soms wel verwarring ontstaat. Vele mensen gaan, doordat er “waterresistant” vermeldt staat, ervan uit dat de horloge 100% waterbestendig is.. Niet dus.. Als er op de horloge enkel “waterresistant” staat betekent dit dat ze bestand is tegen spatwater.
Kijkt u op dit ogenblik naar uw horloge en staat er enkel dat woord? Dan is ermee in het water gaan uit den boze.
Vaak wordt ook de vraag gesteld wat M en ATM nu voor betekenis heeft.
In hoeverre uw horloge tegen water bestand is wordt in eenheden van druk weergegeven, nl M (meter), Bar ATM (atmosfeer) en 1Bar = 1ATM. Het is de statische druk dat uw horloge kan weerstaan in water.
Wat ook altijd een leuke is als er een klant langskomt en er staat bv 50M op de horloge, dan hoor je vaak de opmerking: “Amai ik kan met de horloge 50M diep duiken”.. Als je de horloge dan bekijkt weet je sowieso dat deze het niet zal halen en de persoon zonder speciale uitrusting ook niet… Je zou ervan opkijken hoeveel druk er op de horloge komt te staan bij het beoefenen van een watersport.
Over de M (meter) is dus duidelijk ook verwarring. De aanduiding en meter wil dus niet zeggen dat je er het aantal vermelde meters diep mee kan gaan. Het is een indicatie om weer te geven in hoeverre de horloge bestand is tegen water.
Hier vind je een tabel terug met de classificatie van waterbestendigheid:
Uiteraard moet je steeds enkele factoren in het achterhoofd houden.
Er zijn heel wat struikblokken die een persoon dagelijks doet zonder erover na te denken wat het precies met de horloge doet.
Stel nu dat je op een hete dag lekker buiten aan het genieten bent. De horloge rond je pols ontvangt ongeloofelijk veel hitte. Wat is een remedie als je te warm hebt? Afkoeling natuurlijk en liefst met fris water.. De aartsvijand van een horloge, in het bijzonder de horloge met 3, 5 en 10 ATM.
Door de plotselinge afkoeling (hevige temperatuurswisselingen), schrikt de horloge en zullen het glas en de kast gaan vervormen. Met het blote oog zie je dit niet, maar deze minuscule vervormingen zullen ervoor zorgen dat de horloge naarmate de tijd helemaal niet meer bestand is tegen water.
Condensatie in mijn horloge, wat nu?
Het is steeds mogelijk dat er ook bij goed afgesloten, waterdichte horlogekasten condens optreed aan de binnenkant van het glas. Het betekent niet noodzakelijkerwijs dat het horloge daarom ‘lek’ is. Condens onstaat meestal wanneer de horloge plotseling afkoelt.
Wanneer een horloge bijvoorbeeld tijdens het skiën onder een jack wordt gedragen (en men zich behoorlijk inspant), wordt de kast behoorlijk warm door het dragen, vervolgens wordt de horloge dan plotseling aan een koude omgeving blootgesteld en dan koelt het glas sneller af dan de horloge kast, die door de lichaamstemperatuur verwarmd blijft.
De waas dat u dan ziet in de horlogekast is het vocht dat zal condenseren en een lichte waas vormen aan de binnenzijde van het glas.
Zodra het glas weer op temperatuur is gekomen zal deze waas weer vanzelf verdwijnen. Is er echter sprake van echte druppels aan het glas, dan is de kast waarschijnlijk toch niet goed waterdicht en lek geraakt. Om roestschade of andere schade aan het uurwerk te voorkomen, moet daar liefst zo snel mogelijk iets aan gedaan worden.
Even afspoelen en klaas is kees.
De meeste mensen houden hun horloge voor elke activiteit aan.
Een dagje aan zee op het strand, poetsen in huis, tuinieren in de tuin of op het veld. Je denkt er niet altijd aan, maar al deze activiteiten kunnen op lange termijn de horloge schade aanbrengen als ook de waterdichtheid. Denk er dus altijd aan om de horloge even af te spoelen met zuiver water, zo voorkom je onnodige slijtage, corrosie of schade door bijtende producten..
Mijn batterij is vervangen, is ze dan nog waterbestendig?
Een batterij vervangen van een waterbestendig horloge is immers geen enkel probleem, mits er rekening gehouden wordt met enkele dingen.
Als de horloge een schroefdeksel heeft is het belangrijk dat de afdichtingen steeds mee vervangen worden. Door het openen raakt de afdichting steeds een beetje beschadigd. Silicone en een nieuwe afdichting en je kan met een gerust hartje verder. Laat ook steeds een waterdichtheidstest uitvoeren dan bent u zeker dat er geen andere lekkage is aan de horloge. Denk dan maar aan de kroon of een beschadigd glas. Een minuscuul gaatje is genoeg om de horloge met water te beschadigen.
Houdt er wel rekening mee dat horloges met een drukdeksel niet altijd meer waterbestendig zijn na het vervangen van een batterij.

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell
to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.

Randverbund auftreten, insbesondere, wenn die Klötze Styrolverbindungen enthalten.
