Dit moet je weten over horloge-onderhoud
Een horloge is een complex apparaat, dat doorgaans is opgebouwd uit honderden (kleine) componenten. Bijgevolg is het ook logisch dat dit instrument ook de nodige onderhoud vereist, zeker als het gaat om een duur model dat je lange tijd wilt dragen. Veel mensen zien dit echter niet en lopen jaren rond zonder ook maar iets aan onderhoud te doen, waardoor er op een gegeven moment onvermijdelijk problemen op zullen treden. Om dit te voorkomen, is onderhoud dus noodzakelijk. De vraag is echter hoe je dit doet en of je dit überhaupt zelf even kunt doen. Dit zullen we in het vervolg van dit artikel bespreken.
Kan ik mijn horloge zelf onderhouden?
Op de laatst gestelde vraag, of het een optie is om zelf een onderhoudsbeurt uit te voeren op je horloge, kunnen we vrij kort zijn: dit is niet aan te raden. Zoals gezegd, gaat het bij een horloge immers om een ingewikkeld apparaat met tal van verschillende onderdelen. Om deze reden is de nodige kennis en ervaring vereist, als je (nuttig) onderhoud wilt verrichten. Natuurlijk kun je dit wel doen, als je toevallig wel over deze kennis en ervaring beschikt, maar meestal is dit niet het geval.
Zo ziet een onderhoudsbeurt eruit
Je kunt een onderhoudsbeurt dus het beste overlaten aan een vakman, een echte horlogemaker, die het volgende zal doen. Allereerst zal hij het horloge eens grondig schoonmaken. In veel gevallen is het namelijk zo dat er veel vuil in het apparaat gekomen is. Daarnaast zal hij ook alle onderdelen goed controleren om te kijken of er misschien schade berokkent is, of dat deze schade opkomst is. Verder zal er ongetwijfeld wat nieuwe olie op de lagers aangebracht worden, zodat alles weer soepel loopt, en tot slot worden ook verschillende componenten nog afgesteld. Hoe vaak dit alles nodig is, verschilt van persoon tot persoon en van horloge tot horloge, maar het is toch wel raadzaam om zo’n onderhoudsbeurt minimaal eenmaal per vijf jaar uit te laten voeren.
